Christmas in Houston

The Tuesday before Christmas Kyle and I headed to Houston for 3 days. He had Christmas off this year so we took advantage and headed out. Nothing major was planned... food, presents, shopping, and hopefully some sleep. We managed to do all 3, which we enjoyed. Ever since I went home this summer and spent some quality time in the pool with Tucker and introduced him to water spraying and chasing it, he's been pretty much obsessed with my mom's pool cleaner. He can chase it around and every now and then, it sprays water into the air and Tucker proceeds to chase the water and bark. For 3 days, he paced the edge of her pool. For a big dog like him, we were impressed. There's no telling how many miles he walked while we were there.

Merry Christmas... your tree seems to be blocking the street. This is what my next door neighbors woke up to Christmas morning. It took the man who actually lives there quite some time to come out and help. Not too long after this picture, the fire department showed up to help.

Mom's tree... we always put the cards for everyone on the tree.

Let the pacing begin... He walked sideways all weekend trying to lean over the edge and look into the pool.

All 6 of us home for Christmas... Kyle, my, Lindsey, mom, Rory, and Josh. Not too bad for a last minute self-timer picture

I think Kace is going to have to like cars. His daddy's a mechanic and my parents love Corvettes and own a few of their own "little red Corvettes" so my parents got him this.

My mom and I found this while out shopping. It's going to be perfect for NEXT Christmas, so we bought it this year. :)

The 5 foot tall giraffe my mom got him with the smaller one Kyle's mom got him underneath. Momma and baby... hope he likes giraffes!!

Hope you all had a very merry Christmas and have a happy new year!!

Johnson Family Christmas

The Saturday before Christmas we had Kyle's family over to celebrate. We usually go to his mom's house but I thought it would be fun to have it here. Why not... we have the space and we never have everyone over. There's no pressure to cook because we order pizza for the meal and everyone brings desserts and snacks. Clean up is a breeze. Anyway, all in all there were 10 adults, 4 kids, 2 dogs, and a handful of fish here that day. I think it went well, I only panicked once or twice (I really don't like people messing with my stuff when I didn't ask them too...) and no one tried to harm anyone else. Kids had lots of presents, adults had presents and stockings, too much food was eaten and at the end of the day when everyone left to drive an hour or so home, Kyle and I turned off the lights, walked 10 steps, and climbed into our beds. LOVED IT. Enjoy the pictures, in whatever order they show up on here...

Opening presents

Ethan, after opening the present we gave him. I love the look on his face.

The hat and booties that Kristin knitted (is that a word??) for Kace. Too cute!

Tucker, promptly enjoying Christmas... and destroying Christmas.

Dear Husband, if you take an ugly picture of me...
I shall quickly return the favor. (Too bad his picture isn't too bad). He's wearing the hat that Kristin made him and I got a scarf that's going to keep me warm on those windy mornings doing car duty.

Ella, just enjoying all Christmas has to offer.

Tacky Christmas at CIS

Ok, I'm having to back up some since it's been awhile since I've updated. To end the semester this year, our school had Tacky Christmas day where you, obviously, came dressed as tacky as possible. I had nothing to wear and didn't care to spend money on something that I would never wear again because it had to be a larger size just to accomodate Kace. So, with some help from a little friend, Wal-Mart, and my oh so sweet husband, I looked like this...

The only thing missing from this glorious emsemble was the GIANT bow that we put in my hair Friday morning. Don't worry, I don't plan on dressing like this ever again... or until the next Tacky Christmas. All in all, we looked pretty funny so I leave you with some pictures to laugh at.

Glenda, in all her glory... I actually leave my babies with her when we go out of town... Maybe I should rethink that decision :)

What's in a name?

I never thought naming this baby would prove to be so hard. We've had a name that took the number one spot not long after we found out it was a boy but I just couldn't commit. The teacher in me had to make sure it wasn't going to get his butt kicked everyday on the playground or anything and I didn't want a name associated with a student I would rather forget. :) So, after much thought and debate, his name shall be...

Kace William

Kyle liked Case like the tractor. With a K, I still thought his name should be Kase of something Johnson. After a suggestion from my assistant principal whose son's name is Jace, we came to Kace. 8 weeks later, I finally admitted that that would be his name. William is after my dad. Poor guy has no sons to carry on his family name so this is the closest he'll get. :)

This was my Christmas present to myself... a new storage cocktail table...

2 matching end tables...

A beautiful new entertainment center to hold Kyle's Christmas present, his new HUGE flat screen TV.

An interesting fact about Coke...

According to the wonderful ladies I work with, if you read the following the way I would share it with you, it's even funnier. One teacher actually shared the story with her class...

If the PTA gives you a can of Coke and you set it, unopened, on the corner of your desk and accidently knock it off, it will spray about 6 feet into the air, cover the tower of your computer, the underneath side of your desk, your fridge, one pant leg and anything else within a 10 ft. range, all through the tiniest pinhole in the top where it busted. All by 8:10 in the morning.

I hope you all are having a wonderful Friday, just like I am. :) By the way, I HATE the smell of Coke. More than just about anything. Happy Friday!!

As promised

Ok, apparently I was not swift enough for some of you, but it is still Wednesday and I am updating. A lot seems to have happened in the last MONTH and I'll do my best to get you caught up.
My nephew turned 5 and had a hilarious Star Wars themed birthday party complete with light sabers, an obstacle course, and Darth Vader. They had missions to complete and everything. He's SO into Star Wars, 6 movies I'd never seen completely through and don't really plan to anytime soon. He has though and can tell you all about them and who he likes best. So funny...

Work is work... some days I really enjoy it, others I come home and wonder why on earth I decided to work there. If they ask me to teach one more 45 minute something in my 2 1/2 hour time frame with my kids, I'll scream. Hopefully it will get better... certainly makes a person do a little research into other school districts in this area. I'll probably stay one more year regardless because all the schools are going K-5 next year and that might bring about a good change that I need, and that I'm hoping for.

Thanksgiving was fabulous... I ate great and spent freely. My mom, step-dad, and dogs spent 5 days with us and naturally, my mom and I shopped. Kyle and I decided to have Christmas with his family at our house this year. How I am going to handle that, I'm not sure yet but it has caused me to get in the Christmas spirit and decorate our house real cute. With virtually all my Christmas shopping finished, I have been able to just decorate, and I've loved it. We hung lights up outside, bought a 2nd tree for the living room, and enough decorations for each room of the house to have a little something in it. I like our tree to be seen from the street so we bought another one for his family's presents that you can't see so much from the road. The other one glows brightly from the study window. :) Since we started buying presents in October, we've spread out the cost of everything over many paychecks so I haven't found Christmas to be so expensive this year. I have to do this every year.

As far as BIG purchases go, Kyle and I did the unthinkable for us. We splurged. We want many new things but only make one major purchase at a time to control the amount of debt we take on at once. I finished paying on our appliances and we were talking about what we wanted next. We looked at TV sales for Black Friday and couldn't find the perfect TV for the perfect price. Plus, we didn't have adaquate furniture for said furniture I didn't think. While my mom and I shopped Friday, my step-dad played golf, and Kyle worked, I fell in love with a HUGE entertainment center, coffee table, and matching end tables. It wasn't priced for Friday only so I promised to take Kyle to see it. Saturday night we talked a lot about a budget and what we wanted because with Baby K on the way, we didn't want to take on a major purchase. We gave ourselves some guidelines and went to bed. Sunday morning we headed out and did everything we said we wouldn't. Kyle loved the entertainment center as well and thought we should get it. No big deal, it was within our budget. BUT, when the salesman told me they were ordering less and less of the matching pieces, I didn't know what to do. I have serious issues with things matching and looking right SO we splurged and bought the whole set. Yeah, there was budget busting mistake one. Did we take ourselves home after that? No, of course not. We ate lunch and broke our budget even more so. I promised Kyle we'd go to Circuit City and look at TVs because he thought he found one there for a really great deal and wanted to check it out. No big deal, right? Wrong. This TV was exactly what we wanted, fit into the new entertainment center perfectly, and was $1000, yes that's 3 zeroes, off the original price. PLUS, Circuit City matched Best Buy's advertised price that was $200 dollars less than theirs and threw in an extra 10% off. WHAT?!?! I'm a total bargain hunter and I completely caved. After the TV, warranty, all the HD garbage that it comes with, plus a guy to come out and calibrate it just perfectly for our insanely bright living room, we still paid less than the original price of the TV. So, needles to say we did everything we said we wouldn't but after my furniture is delivered Saturday and his new TV is sitting in its new home, I don't think I'll care at all. It's going to look so good. After that, we got our wits back and drove straight home and locked ourselves in so we didn't spend anymore money. I will post pictures once it's all here. Can't wait!

Today, I had taken the day off for reasons I wo't go into on here (just one more reason why my job gets on my nerves) and we went to the doctor for the glucose test thing. I managed to drink the drink pretty quickly and about 10 minutes later, wanted to puke. I'm not that into sweets and I felt like I just ate a bowl full of sugar. I survived it... until she took my blood. I hate needles so I'm already extremely tense and no one can ever find my veins so the process isn't pleasant but I'm getting better. Anyway, she couldn't find one she liked in my left arm and decided to use my left hand. Why we didn't bother with my right arm is something I'm still processing. Needles to say, it actually brought tears to my eyes, made my doctor mad that she took it in my hand, and then told me to not let that lady take my blood anymore but to ask for her other nurse (who I just like better in general anyway). There's a knot on the top of my hand, a lovely bruise forming, and it aches so much. On the upside, I did get a Z-PAK for the crud that I have been battling for 2 weeks and we all hope that this keeps away the bronchitis that I get at this time of year every year. Z-PAKs work like magic for me and usually within 24 hours, I'm feeling MUCH better. Can't wait!

I think that about sums it up. Unless my computer dies again, you should hear from me more often. The nursery is just about finished so I will try to take pictures and post them this weekend, along with maybe announcing his name. I heard a little boy at WalMart today and his name was the same as Baby K's will be and it pretty much sealed the deal for me. I've never heard his name used before and I loved it. Hope yall do too. For now, he's a pregnant lady picture. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! (Assuming you stuck with me through this whole thing and read it all). :)

27 weeks - Can you tell I'm pregnant now??

...And welcome to December

HELLO!!! Wow, it's been a long time. First, let me say I was not ignoring you and this is going to be brief with a promise to update, with pictures, on Wednesday (because I took the day off just because I can). Our computer got this hideous virus and after much deliberation about what to do with it, we took it to Kyle's brother who kindly fixed it solely because he enjoys it. I now think of him a little more fondly and he shall have a sweeter Christmas in return. :) 2 weeks with no computer, my parents were here for Thanksgiving, and that somehow got me to December... What?!?!

We've shopped, bought/ordered MANY new things, are headed on a small vacation in 2 weeks, and we're going to see the doctor Wednesday. I'm getting bigger and he kicks a lot. Hold on til Wednesday... I promise a long update...
